A Creative Day at the Art Club: Inspired by Beatriz Milhazes
Last Friday, the Art Club session was full of creativity and fun!
It was the kick off event for the Fall Semester and once again joined by the talented Irene Pantelis, who brought some beautiful decorative pieces, including lovely vases and flowers, to serve as inspiration for the group.
There were 12 people attending in person and 2 online.
Irene started by guiding us through pencil sketches, allowing us to explore the shapes and forms of the decorations. Afterward, we moved on to creating a collage using special papers Irene had brought with her.
This added texture and depth to our artwork. Finally, we began filling in our creations with colors. Most of participants preferred using markers instead of watercolor pencils.
The theme for the session was organic and abstract shapes, inspired by the renowned Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes.
Renata shared her experience of seeing Milhazes’ work at the Pérez Museum in Miami, while Ana recalled viewing her pieces at Inhotim. Irene also mentioned that she had seen her art at the MoMA.
Overall, the session was a hit, with everyone feeling inspired and proud of their colorful creations.
In time, Irene Pantelis is exhibiting in a few galleries in MDV right now.
