Impressionism & Photography
What a wonderful Art History class we had on June 3rd!
Ana Tallone, adjunt professor at Howard University, PhD in art history and photography by Graduate Center in NYC, curator and specialist in modern, contemporary and Latin American art gave us an amazing lecture!
“Modern Art with Ana Tallone”, lecture on June 3rd
In less than 10 minutes, we were all already in love with her knowledge, sensibility and artistic aesthetic.
In this particular Monet’s piece we could see some characteristics of Impressionism:
broken brush
non-realistic
captured landscape and urban life effects
unfinished aspect
During her lecture, Ana Tallone explained how photography was close to modern art movements in the late 19th century. What brought us to discover that Felix Nadar, pioneer of aerial photography was the first celebrity photographer the world ever had.
The explanation about this Monet study was very thoughtful. How we perceive light and how the solar light changes all the time.
Why don’t you try by yourself?
Gather your brushes and paints and let’s enjoy the summer season!!
