Trip into Islamic Art

Ancient Silk Road image on Maria Camila’s presentation

Maybe, I am biased to say how much I enjoy our last session !?

Thank you one more time Maria Camila for your time, lecture and for sharing what you researched “in loco” with your lovely family.

How fascinating is Islamic Art! We could pass sessions and sessions discovering more about it.

Now, we all have another good reason to visit Turkey, right?

“Research!” We should say ;-D

Above, some pictures of our virtual session and Maria Camila’s presentation.

Maria Camila presented to us a bit of art, architecture, glass making, calligraphy and textile in the Islamic world. From this presentation we got some shapes and designs used as decorative motifs to make our own project.

Look how interesting is the repetitive pattern and symmetry on rugs and ceramics.

Exercises of an Islamic Decorated Art Project

The high point was when we started to color and embellish the suggested template.

We got so creative with the usage of calligraphy mixed with all other elements and colors that I would say it was a really fun project and a nice way to spend time with the Art group! ;-)

Good job, ladies!
